Tired, but can’t sleep. Dunno if it’s excitement about tomorrow (today, now) or what. TFC match, hopefully Nathan Fillion and Bruce Campbell: what’s not to be excited about?!
I’m already realizing we won’t get everything done I wanted to get done, but hell, the con eats time. EATS IT LIKE A SLICE OF PIZZA. And, ultimately, I’m okay with that, ‘cause I’m still getting to spend time with Ty & Trem and we’re still having a blast! Got my souvenirs-for-other-people shopping done, and am carefully monitoring the remainder. I am determined to get a scarf from BMO, dammit. They’re $30 online, so hopefully they’re not too much more live-and-in-person.
Bought so many damn t-shirts. I’m going to have to be ruthless about my t-shirt downsizing when I get home (and after I recover from con hangover). My girls and I went to a local Italian place for dinner. :9 Very tasty (and very close; after a long day on the con floor, that’s what you need!). We got ice cream and played Fluxx in the hotel room. It was good. Relaxing.
I want to be home pretty badly though. I’m starting to remember why I don’t go to more cons: aside from the expense, it’s hot, it’s crowded, and you never get to do as much as you wanted to. (I still haven’t built a plushy yet, but on the other hand, I got to meet Edward James Olmos and I now have a S.H.I.E.L.D. ID card.) There’s the stress of “I have to get this celeb’s autograph!” and the conflicting scheduling, as well as pushing your way through crowds and keeping track of your friends. It’s exhausting.
And, ultimately, as much fun as FanExpo has been so far, hanging out with Ty & Trem has still been the best part. :3 Clearly, I’ll have to go visit their home province some time (but I still want to visit Washington (state) and the Werepenguin and I are gonna go to HEXCon whenever it winds up being and… and…).
Might try to scrounge up something vaguely food-like before I attempt more sleep. There’s some sort of deep humming outside that’s not helping (probably construction; there’s a LOT of that going on atm).
Edward James Olmos held my hand and we spoke in Spanish a little and I think I’m dead from sheer joy now ‘cause he was so nice and he looked like Santa Claus
I was going to post up some photos from the official Day 1 of the con (along with CN Tower and Aquarium photos) but the free wi-fi here sucks balls and I’ll be damned if this place sucks any more money out of me and beloved guildies, dammit. Instead, suffice it to say that fun has been had, and also naps, and also ice cream.
My biggest fear of the trip has proven to be unfounded: Ty and Trem and I are getting along well. Sometimes we do all retreat to our own computers (and sometimes I IM Ty instead of talking to her, but to be fair, I’m either doing it to deliberately be a smartass about it (“You’re online! OMG where are you? I’m in Toronto!” - as if she weren’t just a few feet away) or else because Trem’s resting and that way we don’t have to make as much noise), but we’ve been having a really good time together.
It looks like my Ashna plans are a bust, and that makes me pretty sad, but everything else is working out well. Tomorrow I can hopefully get Edward James Olmos’s autograph at some point. :3 I have flagrantly disregarded the cardinal rule of “Do Not Buy Anything The First Day Unless You Believe It Won’t Last”, but not as much as I could have done. I picked up the two part comic “Zombie Jesus vs. Robot Hitler”, and a (signed by the artist) poster for Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. Also some Rage Virus. Yes, as in 28 Days Later. Doesn’t taste too bad, but then I’ve had quite a few sour Shockers, so that may be tampering with my taste buds a bit.
So many pictures, too! Oh god, I followed this Misato cosplayer around forEVER until I got distracted by the Tower of T-Shirts but then I saw them again later and was able to get a pic. Also, a little boy dressed up as Starlord! OMG, I died. He was actually my first cosplay pic of the con. <3 I’ve seen some adult Starlords who didn’t look that good!
So yes, there will be pictures eventually. Also, shoutout to Manders: Ty effing loves the flier you designed. She giggled muchly. Also, Trem & Ty both say hi and that they miss you. :)
ZOMBIE JESUS vs. ROBOT HITLER
Adaril is a fairly diverse continent filled with different type of people, from dwarves and merfolks to elves, humans, fairies or centaurs. The land is under the rule of an empire and divided in 12 different duchies, all of them unique. Of course the political situation, while stable, still is pretty tense due to the land’s rich history, which makes for an interesting place to live in. Depending on your character’s race, tribe and beliefs, others will see and act toward them differently. It is set in a medieval like land, with a few modern twists and a touch of steampunk. The world will evolve with your actions, making it for a fun and challenging roleplay. We hope to organise many events related to the cultural and political situation of the land too, to add even more spice to the roleplay.
We’re a small but friendly community, more than happy to welcome new members; we’re a PG-13 forum and people of any level in English can join as long as they are nice and can roleplay decently/be understood. There is a limit of 3 characters per person, though after some set amounts of posts that limit is widened and you may get more characters to play as. We also offer predefined characters if you do not feel like writing a brand new character for this forum. We’re looking forward to rping with you!
